Scott Sexton is currently in his 13th year of teaching. This is his first year as Director of Bands for Pulaski County High School and his third year teaching in the Pulaski County Public School District. Prior to this appointment, he has served as Director of Bands at Northern Middle School since 2006. Mr. Sexton also served as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Coordinator for Wayne County School District from 1998-2006 and Assistant Band Director for Hart County School District from 1996-1998. Mr. Sexton's groups have won numerous awards and have consistently received Distinguished Ratings at performance assessment events.
He received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of the Cumberlands in 1996 and his Master of Arts in Music Education Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1999. He also holds an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education from Western Kentucky University and a Rank I in Educational Leadership from Union College.
Mr. Sexton currently serves as President of the Lake Cumberland Music Educators Association. He is also serves on the Kentucky Music Educators Association Festival Commission as Festival Manager for the Somerset Festival District. He is President-Elect of KMEA District 10 (term 2010-2012). He also served as Elementary/Middle School Instrumental Chair for KMEA District 10 from 2004-2006. He was named the 2008 KMEA District 10 Teacher of the Year.
In addition to his band directing duties at PCHS and NMS, Mr. Sexton also serves as Academic Team, Future Problem Solving, and Community Problem Solving Coach for Northern Middle School where he has accumulated a total of six international titles as well as numerous state and regional titles. He also performs regularly with the London Community Orchestra.
